Sharing my book 📔 review of Karamyogi, MS Ashokan's biography of Dr. E Sreedharan. He is a common man with a powerful legacy, awarded with #padmashri (2001) and #padmabhush Vibhushan (2008) for his contributions to Indian #engineering and #infrastructure #development . The book portrays Dr. Sreedharan as a Simple, Humble, Brilliant and Hardworking individual who made a difference in people's lives. It covers his personal and professional life, highlighting his contributions to challenging infrastructure projects such as the Pumban Bridge, Konkan Railways and Delhi Metro #dmrc . Despite not having the typical #IIT or civil servant background, he achieved significant success in his career through his core values inspired by the #bhagavadgita . Driven by #integrity , #discipline , and #dedication , he was always willing to take on tough challenges to ensure successful project completion. Dr. Sreedharan achievements ✅ #Pamban Bridge: At 26 years old, Dr. E.S gained fame for reconstructing the Pamban Bridge, previously a British engineering marvel, which was destroyed by storms and floods in 1964. He completed the reconstruction in record time, earning him a reputation as a superhuman among the public. ✅ #Konkan #railways project: In 1990, Dr. E.S led the construction of the Konkan Railways project on a tight schedule, connecting the northern end of Kerala to Mumbai, which was considered the most complicated project at the time. ✅ #delhimetro Rail Corporation (DMRC)- At 65, Dr. E.S, also known as "Metro Man," was proposed to lead the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). However, a legal statute prevented anyone above 65 from leading an organization partly owned by the central government. Cabinet Secretary T.S.R Subramanian made a bold decision to support Dr. Sreedharan's candidature. T.S.R Subramanian believed that age should not be a barrier to talent and ability, arguing that if a 75-year-old could govern the country, a 65-year-old like Dr. Sreedharan could run DMRC.
